About these articles

The first question most families ask is whether a sensor in a parent's home is a way of watching them. Silvie uses radar, not a camera, and it has no microphone. There is nothing to wear. These articles explain what a radar sensor can and can't see, and where its limits are.

What Silvie does and does not do

Silvie detects falls and shows your parent's daily routine, like getting into and out of bed. It has no camera and no microphone. Alerts are push notifications through the Silvie app, sent to the people invited to the app. Silvie does not place phone calls, does not call 911 and has no monitoring center.

Who controls the sensor

The Silvie app is for you and the people you invite, not for your parent, and there is nothing for your parent to do. The person who sets up Silvie can invite people, choose which homes they see, and stop sharing at any time. Each person can snooze fall alert push notifications in the app. Snoozing pauses notifications only, and fall events are still recorded. The sensor plugs into a wall outlet.
