How Silvie works

A radar sensor in the corner of the room senses where your parent is, how they're moving and if a fall happens. No camera, no video. Nothing to wear or charge.

This is Silvie

8 cm wide, 11 cm deep. Mounts in a corner about 2 m up and plugs into the wall.

One sensor per room

It senses where your parent is, how they're moving and if a fall happens.

What the sensor senses

Silvie sends out low power radio waves. They bounce off the walls, the furniture and the person in the room, and the sensor reads what comes back. That's how it knows where your parent is, whether they're standing, sitting or lying down, and how they're moving. It doesn't track faces, sounds or anything else.

What happens when your parent falls

Silvie detects the fall, confirms it's real, and sends your family a critical alert on their phones. It works day and night.

1

Silvie checks it's a fall

Your parent goes down. Silvie confirms it's a real fall, not bending over to pick something up or sitting on the floor.

2

Fall detected

The room is marked in the app with the time of the fall.

Your family gets a critical alert

Everyone in your family set up for alerts gets it on their phone, with the room and the time.

What else can Silvie do?

A fall is the moment you're most afraid of. The slow changes before it are the ones Silvie helps you see: restless nights, more trips to the bathroom, less time on their feet.

One bar a day: how long your parent spent in bed. More time in bed than last week is worth a call.

Breathing in bed

In the bedroom, Silvie shows their breathing rate while they're in bed, and overnight. A steady line is a good night. A change is worth a call in the morning.

How many sensors you need

A sensor covers a room up to 19 feet by 19 feet. It doesn't sense through walls or large furniture, so each room your parent spends time in needs its own. Inside its range it's accurate. Beyond it, it doesn't sense anything.

How to set it up

The app walks you through each step. Most families do it during a visit. If you can't be there, we'll walk your parent or a helper through it on a call.

The Silvie box

Everything you need is in the box: bracket, adhesive and screws, a 6 m cable, cable clips, a measuring tape and a bubble level.

Invite all family members

Invite up to 10 family members. Everyone you invite gets fall alerts on their own phone and can check in on how your parent's day is going.

Everyone gets the fall alert. Siblings, a spouse, a neighbour, a caregiver. Whoever is closest can act.

Each person picks their other alerts. Bed exits, room exits and the hours they apply, on or off per person.

Your parent doesn't need a phone. Nothing to wear, press or remember.

What Silvie doesn't do

You're trusting this with someone you love. You should know the edges.

It doesn't sense through wallsOr around the corner of an L shaped room, or into a hallway outside its view. Each room needs its own sensor.
It doesn't call 911Silvie alerts the family members you invite. Someone still has to act on the alert.
It needs wifi and powerIf the home's wifi or power goes out, the app tells you the sensor is offline until it's back.
It isn't a medical deviceBreathing and activity are for noticing change, not for diagnosis. Share what you see with their doctor.

Common questions

A real person answers at ask@silvie.com, 7 days a week.

Do I have to respond to every alert?

No. Fall alerts are the only ones that need someone to act. Bed exit and room alerts are for the hours and rooms you choose, and you can turn any of them off.

What if more than one person is in the room?

Silvie still watches for a fall. It doesn't identify who is who, for privacy reasons, so activity patterns are clearest when your parent is usually the only person in the room.

Will it go off if my parent sits on the floor?

Silvie looks at how someone got to the floor and whether they get up. Sitting down to play with a grandchild looks different from a fall. If it does ask, one tap in the app tells it.

What if the wifi goes out?

The app shows the sensor as offline and lets you know. It picks up again on its own when the connection is back.

Can I set it up if I don't live with my parent?

Yes. Most families set it up during a visit, and everything after that is managed from your phone. If you can't be there, we'll walk your parent or a helper through it on a call.

Is support free?

Yes, 7 days a week, including help while you install. Email ask@silvie.com or book a free call, and we'll walk you or your parent through it.
